Edgewater is a beautiful city in Jefferson County, Colorado. Edgewater is situated immediately west of Denver, Colorado, and is populated by over 5,000 people. Edgewater was incorporated into a city over a century ago in 1904. This small town’s name is derived from the fact that is has a lakefront location at Sloan’s Lake, and the total area of the city is only 0.7 square miles.
Edgewater, Colorado is a welcoming lakeside town nestled on the side of Sloan’s Lake, immediately west of Denver. Located in Jefferson County, with an urban-suburban mixed feel, Edgewater has a population of 5,000.
Edgewater residents are lucky to have exciting and beautiful summer months, the average hottest temperature recorded in the city in July is only 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The people of Edgewater have access to unbeatable coffee shops. Other restaurants in the city allow homeowners to decide between several options when looking for a place to eat.
The Edgewater community is part of the Jefferson County School District R-1, with many highly rated schools. Edgewater children attend either Edgewater Elementary or Lumberg Elementary for kindergarten through sixth grade. Both schools offer a dual-language Spanish program and follow the Expeditionary Learning Model, which emphasizes high achievement through active learning, character growth and teamwork. Following completion of sixth grade, students attend Jefferson Junior/Senior High School. With almost 700 students enrolled, this culturally diverse school still has a small-town community feel.
Edgewater is part of the Jeffco public school district, a district that's been around since 1950. There are a total of 84 elementary schools, six kindergartens through eighth-grade schools, 17 middle schools, 17 high schools, 12 optional schools, 15 charter schools, one online school, one career and tech school, and two outdoor laboratory schools. For the small community of Edgewater, students are typically assigned to the Edgewater elementary school, the Jefferson junior and senior high school for grades seventh through 12th, and then optional schools such as Sobesky Academy, Miller Special Education, and Warren Tech North.
Just to the east of the Edgewater neighborhood is Sloan Lake. This lake has a park all the way around with walking trails, picnic tables, basketball courts, tennis courts, restrooms, and several parking spaces all the way around. It's a perfect location for walking or jogging.

The Edgewater Public Market offers a fun hub of restaurants, shops, and bars. From Ethiopian to Venezuelan specialty foods, alcohol and coffee bars to specialty shops, this is the kind of market you won’t want to miss.
